The Taos area offers a wide variety of rock for climbers of all abilities. From hard sport to easy traditional to multi pitches, you’ll find them here.
Many and varied sport routes combined with easy access, proximity to the Rio Grande and hot springs make the John Dunn Bridge area a popular place to climb.
There are four good spots near the bridge. Sport and trad routes in the Solar Asylum can be climbed almost year-round. Some lower sections are loose, but the upper are technical and the rock is extremely hard. John’s Wall is mostly sport routes. Southern exposure allows year-round climbing, though summer afternoons can be very hot.
