Ah, the spoils of war. Most of the land in that beautiful little valley along the Rio Hondo (and I don't know how many thousand acres of forest to the right of it) belongs to Donald Rumsfeld. Of course, he can't take credit for the trees or the ways of nature, but he is a pretty good landowner. True, many people were enraged when he gated the trail to the Turley Mill ruins, but he put the land first. Too many people were trashing the area and hauling out illegally cut firewood. It's my neighborhood and I'm glad Rummy is my neighbor. How many people in Taos would admit that?
